  Picked up a car for three days, a standard Nissan Qashqai. I’d bought insurance online through a third party — don’t recommend doing this. Instead, buy the Hertz insurance that covers $5.5k excess, only available at Hertz counters on the day. As we drove around the GC, we noticed the fuel gauge didn’t move off full, and the digital gauge’s numbers were going up and down. We filled it up on the way to drop it off and when we returned it the sales associate said everything was fine.
  
  I get a call the next day saying it’s not full. I didn’t get a gas receipt and when I explained about the gauge the guy was like ‘well I’ll have to have someone look at it but it’s not full so we’ll have to charge you for the gas, but only if it’s over a few litres’.
  
  While I waited for him to call me back, I did some googling and discovered this is a common car rental scam, especially with Hertz. I’m not saying that’s what happened here or that I was scammed just what I read online.
  
  I rang the gas station and they amazingly text me a copy of my receipt, so I rang the guy back explaining I had proof. He was still evasive and said he would call me back - an hour later, what do you know, it was full and the gauge was faulty! Something about this place - maybe it’s the dodgy location? - felt off from the beginning. Will be collecting my car from the airport next time.

  Terrible service. My insurance booked a Van under our company name for a worker. They wouldnt accept company credit card for bond from him or over the phone from me. Had to cancel.

  I won’t never recommend. I called one of the staff she advised me to do online but the thing is , if you got stuck then obviously we need to ring them so, why is she there at customer service desk if she doesn’t wanna help the customer.

  Do NOT go through HERTZ (Thrifty) Southport!
  Awful service.
  Extremely unprofessional staff.
  Jo the “assistant manager” said that her staff member Daniel gave us the wrong information regarding our extension price.
  Jo increased the price and charged us more than what we were quoted when it was time to return the vehicle, even though we had been given a different price verbally by Daniel when we rang the previous day. Jo was extremely rude and said there was no one else we could speak to. I would NOT recommend Thrifty Southport. Go elsewhere!

  Hi guys, please don't rent a car from this Hertz. I understand Hertz is generally good but this Hertz doesn't know how to treat customers. We booked a car online and they told us no car available when we arrived here. I'm wondering why you confirmed our booking but cannot provide a car. This is totally unacceptable!!!

  They don't inspect their cars properly, had to point out a large scratch on the boot of the car. Who knows if they would have charged me for it if I didn't point it out. Great customer service however.
